Story
Well, I hadn't put my fingers on a remix since september '04 and I don't think I will do this year. This piece is some months old and was stopped to arrange after Glyn's Rastan.
So it was born to rest on my harddisk. But a good friend of mine begged for uploading it, and I did him this favour. I do think that the quality of the soundpicture is quite nice while the arrangement is missing something, like the original SID too. It's the first time I hadn't enhanced a remix with own musical elements (only some very small) just make a SID sounding bigger.
Put your hands on an original and it's blasphemy, don't do it and it's boring… hahah, a very thankful job. Ok, enough sarcasm Keep the scene alive ..!

The "look & feel" of this arrangement made me think of Baldur's Gate. This is almost an outstanding (as usual with Markus), but there's something missing... And I can't put my finger on what.
Took me a good few listens to upgrade this from very good to outstanding, there IS something missing and spectacular thats the norm in an MS mix but right now im lovin it! (not like mcds tho cos then it would only get an average)
Yes, Markus can do better. Nevertheless this has some great elements, and the singing is beautiful (Is this elvish or latin or?) :)
Reminds me of glyn's Rastan mixed with a bit of glyn's Times of Lore, but without any real punch or attack. It's nice and all but misses out on a catchy melody
Welcome back Markus!! Mary Knickle has Lovely Lovely Lovely voice!
Nice effort all round. It's quite good to start with, but the whole thing sounds a little sparse - needs something to fill the room with. I'm nitpicking I know, but it didn't quite move me.
Markus, you're awesome! The singing fits perfectly with the song!
For some reason this tune reminds me of something you'd find in Babylon 5, but its very emotive and well executed.
Typical markus affair.. This is about %1 shy of being just very good.. But that tiny little sum.. Makes all the difference.. Wtg markus and welcome back to the fray once more!
Nice vocals.
Another great remix by markus, with some great vocals....
Love those strings and drums! Sounds much more realistic than Doyen IMO. And I know what's missing, Makke: Battle-SFX!!
Some disturbing clicks - a master like markus should avoid such. The trumpets do not sound well too (steril). Does not really fit the original SID.
Markus can do no wrong, another top remix.
This track just rocks the house. Aural perfection.;)
Good but no cigar. Sounds alot like a Glyn R Brown mix but without..... Dont know what it is... Lovely vocal at the start though, wish I could sing... Like that!
I love this... Really... An THEVOICE... Who the f*** sings that???
Original. I don't like synth-orchestras, but this is not that bad.
Like Dan, it took me a few listens before I really started to enjoy this. Sounds like a big budget orchestral soundtrack made for the LOTR film. Not as good as Glyn's Rastan but wonderful all the same!:)
Outstanding! Could hear it again and again and... (Klasse Arbeit, Markus!)
This is cool! Only thing keeping me from voting "Outstanding" is that I find the switch between the softer vocals to the epic orchestration to be a bit much -- each would be "Outstanding" as it's own piece, but together, something's no
For me this is only average. But I'll give one point extra bc when I first heard it without knowing the title, it made me think of Lord of the Rings, which is a pretty good achievement. Sounds Elbian!
Simply beautiful
Not perfect instruments and good arrangement not far from Lord of the Ring
Its more like the Amiga version than the SiD, and thats a good thing, this should have been used in the movies its that good, fantastic work!

I feel that you're watched Lord of the Rings a lot! 😊 This certainly has a feel of the movies more so than the original piece. Now not saying that is a bad thing, since the original piece is very boring and you have taken it and made it into a epic intro to what could be a great story.
If you were after a theme music style of the type like Conan and Lord of the Rings Movies you have certainly done that in spades, and if there wasn't those nasty clicks and pops in the track it would certainly be in my "movie soundtrack" listening group.
The only other thing that I feel decreases my overall score of this is some of the instruments you used needed something more to them to make them more "Believable". Many of the brass have that On/Off feel to it you get with Synth's, and this could have been improved by adding more effects to each of the notes to make them feel different to each other (then just volume and pitch)
Having heard your pieces before, I feel in this one you could have done a lot better, and a
rushedfeel to the mastering of this piece hurts it. But, the technical knowledge you have in mixing an orchestral piece is beyond reproach and certainly shows in this remix. If there was a real orchestra playing this, it would be near on perfect!
