Story
This tune was always one of my favourites on the C-64. Though it was simple, and lacked the flair of other composers like Jeroen Tel, it still held a lot of atmosphere for me. Tim Follin should be proud!
I tried to stick as faithfully as I could to the original piece in structure and melody, but I wanted to modernise it too; some folks have already said they aren't too impressed with the "four to the floor" rendition of the first half of the piece, but the original lent itself to it, so I thought "What the hey, let's have some fun."
The result is a rather short remix which is as long as the original, but who knows… I might expand upon it one day, add a little more than was in the original, and see where it goes from there.
Finally I should tip my hat to LMan and Larsec, who did a great job remixing the original Ghosts'n'Goblins. Their effort actually was the final nudge for me to do my remix, hence a couple of small similarities in instrumentation between the two; the mandolin, most notably. I kept the key of my remix the same as LMan's and Larsec's, so if you stick my remix after theirs on your playlist with a fade-between, you get a nice flow of original and sequel😉
Cheers to all who have voted, and thanks for the comments, both existing and to come!

Excellent rendition of a VERY difficult SID, some nice little bits of production thrown in their too boot
A classic case of something just simply works!!! Only thing that stops me giving it the RED face is that you always seem to feel that there should be more to come, but it never arrives.
Only thing I don't like is the church organ-thingy. It sounds too plastic. If I could I'd give the first half of the tune "good" and the second half "outstanding". I guess I'll have to compromise and give it Very Good.;)
I really enjoyed this one, lots of smart touches to actually make the tune work, and he's concentrated on all the dark spooky elements that make the SID so good. And kudos for taking on such a difficult tune and making it work so well.
Excellent version of an excellent sid. No red face for me for the first part, I dont like the 4/4 straight beat on this scary atmosphere, much better the second downbeat part.
Could have been a red one but I'm absolutely not ok with the dance beat in the first half.
Church organs orchestral noises + dance synths and drums = \o/
Very good remix with a nice atmosphere...
The original always amazed me. And this version is a very good and brave rendition indeed. Well done! (the panning dancebeat is fine by me ;-)
Nicely done!!! Keep up the good work..
Well done Miguel, "The art of the Fugue" have no secrets for you ;-)
Close to the red one :)
Top stuff!
Starts out ok, then a mid part destroys a better mark.
I think it's not possible to remix the original GNG titeltheme better
Is it Halloween already? This is probably where DJ Mitch got the idea from for his Walpurgis Cauldron remix, which was released 1 month later. Good one!
Love this one
Catch the spirit of the original SID song perfectly!
Something to be proud of! Great ambience!

I think that's the reason why the music itself is not so populare as the Ghosts N Goblins tune from Mark Cooksey. I think it's great that someone have arranged this underrated tune.
The remix self is absolute brilliant. It comes near to the original sid but sounds technical more spectacular. The sound itself sounds a little like an old B-Movie. The atmosphere is great with the howling and screaming at the beginning of the song. I love it.
Absolutly great work.
