Story

Here is an Arcade game which I spent a lot of money playing in the mid 80's. The Amiga's soundtrack for this game covered most, if not all of the arcade-machine's subtunes but sadly lacked the drive and feel of the arcade soundtrack. This 'Main-theme' which is familiar to one and all even had wrong notes & chords, (when compared to the arcade version). So, another opportunity to really make the Amiga's sound capabilities shine, was missed and the 'arcade experience' which Amiga owners were looking for, was diminished.

I always felt this tune could be a good one to remix with a little more drive and energy added. The genre kind of ended up somewhere between the 70's & 80's with some rock elements and some disco bits. I've added a good few chords to the arrangement which aren't in either the Amiga or C64 version; or it's Arcade predecessor.

It turned out okay, I think… but that's just my opinion.. What's your's?

1 Best Amiga Remix

Excellent execution, and now I can’t even get it out of my head!:)
Extremely catchy feel-good music!:)
Lovely stuff Peter! I love the guitar playing especially.
Very enjoyable!
Awesome track, Peter! Your britishness is really shining through in this one, with the ELO references.=)
This is a dangerous remix! You listen to it and then it is in your head for the rest of the day. Such a good interpretation of a favourite game-tune of mine,
One of my all time favourite arcade pieces; I love the seamless blend of genres from the opening strings to the guitar break near the end. Pure class.
The electrical guitar part is great, though the vocoder is really misplaced. Overall a quite boring, but well produced piece that sounds even more dated than the original, although that's intentional. It gets an orange because of the great craftmanship.
What a great remix, like you peter spent many an hour on this game and the remix of the soundtrack is perfect, Sega would be proud!
Startlingly good remix. Strings, bass, lead, guitar all blended together with care and love. I can even forgive the 'shoehorned' vocoder, because it makes me smile. Wonderful all round!
I listened to the original arcade and mainly the C64 version million times. This is a gigantic interpretation Sega should pay for and I'm sure everyone who knows the original would appreciate. So much effort in this, deserves alot of love :) Thank you!
Really cool!!!
Erm... Wow!
Oh my lord. Is anyone else basically after a version of this but with a bit more of a drawn out emotional vibe to it?
After a number of listens I updated my vote to red. Sega Super Sonic Team Band quality!
Varied work
A worthy best remix winner IMHO - very special indeed.
Amazing!

That bass line - superb! That arrangement - phenomenal! That energy - uplifting! That vocoder - nice touch! That groove - it's, erm, groovy! Those orchestral riffs - spot on! The best British prog-rock style remix of this tune I ever heard! 😊

Unreal. Feels like the original but its new and modern. You know a good remix when a tune feels like 2 mins but is 4 mins plus. Well done Peter you have again pleased my tiny little ears. 😊 I love the ending by the way!

Loving this version so much… there's plenty to keep everyone happy and put a smile on your face… from the amazing string work on the intro, to the clear and clever bass, and even a cheeky bit of ELO inspired vocoder. The guitar work through out is exceptional, and it should be one of your essential downloads here at Amiga remix too. I love it!

I am also someone who pumped coins into this game and had the arcade and C64 version of this tune imprinted on my brain. This is a truly great remix that captures the spirit of the original in a style that is straight out of the time that the C64 and arcade version are from. The strings and brass are wonderful and the whole thing is uplifting. An outstanding remix.

Peter set a standard with his cybernoid 2 remix and he's done it again with this version of Space Harrier. The bassline drives it throughout and the whole thing is uplifting & catchy. Mixing & mastering sound impeccable. Superb remix.

I initially just wrote a comment on this remix but I've come back so many times this year to listen to it again & again I felt I had to give it a little more love. What an uplifting remix this is, technically the instruments & the mix are 1st class. The arrangement is brilliant from the agile bassline to the disco-strings it's so good. And from a nostalgia point of view, this IS Space Harrier. It's what I heard in my head, every time I played the game. An outstanding remix from start to finish.

I think I missed this back in 2020, this such a fantastic adaptation of a great tune, reminds me a bit of something Sky would have done. Vibes of Yellow Magic Orchestra & ELO. Where is the bit at around 15 seconds from?? It is driving me mad! (Discovered what it is, Endless Dream by Yes)
