Story
First of all: i'm not a pianist. To tell you the truth, i can't play any real instrument and i can't read any notes. I just work with my ears.

I played the Hero Quest game with my best friend for ages, first the board game, then the computer game. And i loved this wonderful ingame tune. No matter for that poor synth sounds, it was the melody which impresses me. I started this rework a long time ago on my computer just using Renoise with the The Grand-VSTi. It was a very hard work to make the sound of the piano as realistic as possible.

Absolutely beatiful piano arrangement. I'm melting......=)
VERY nicely done indeed.
A piano should exactly sound like THAT! I'll throw my lousy Keyboard outta the window... :) Thumbs up for this one!
Aweome, delicate, moody and yet stunningly executed!
Wonderful!
Simply outstanding
Finaly a Hero Quest tune! And an awsome one! Now we only need a nice remix tune for the Hero Quest intro music
Pure acoustics. One of the best remixes in a long time. We need much much more of this in the scene. Human emotion and acoustics.
Well done!! But Im afraid that 2 hands are not enough to play that ( I got to try someday )... Great job anyway!! More piano arragements of amiga games, plz!!
Wow!!! Very nice Piano.:-)
Amazing piano piece with tonnes of emotion
PTY
Wow - what a wonderfull tune
Such flow, such delicacy
Very beautiful track, but it reminds me in Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, so I must cry.
Awesome! Normally I like dance mixes more, but this is real nice! I was close to tears when hearing the original MOD, this version brought me even closer...
At first I have to thank you! As I have tried to mix this for ages and now I dont have to, because this is just near perfect!
It is Excellent, it brings me so much memories... Thank you whoever you are, you have done an increadible work
Masterspiece

Goose bumps. That's when you know it's a great pieace of work. Real instruments or not. Good work!
One of the best! Exhilarating!!!
OMG, how awesome. Wonderfull done!!!
Awesome!
Beautiful.
Best remix of ingame music, beautiful.....
10/10.
Amazingly touching piece! You passed the difficult exercice of the delicate piano tune on a synth. Could you please consider a similar rework of Agony?
Wonderful tune!
Nice work, esp when made in a tracker like Renoise :)
This really is a wonderful recreation of a catchy theme I heard way too much as a teenage Amiga geek. Loved the game. Love the theme.
Fanbloodytastic, god I wish I could play piano
A lot of emotions in this song. I love the sound of this piano.
Excellent rendition a true homage to it's original!
For not being a pianist, you've done an excellent job making it feel alive. Very nice!

Very good, its amazing how the use of expression really gives the piece emotion that I'd never heard there before. When I remixed it for immortal 3 I cut the piece short as I felt that musically it was weak and if I continued the piece, it would have been too repetative. So it's a breath of fresh air to hear this.. Makes me wanna finish the remix.. INcidentally, the arpeggios towards the end were a "nod" to combo racer that i'd written previously..

I listened to this track and the original Amiga track from Barry Leitch, and created a piano score that is bit of a hybrid between the two.

I like this soulful, expressive arrangement a lot. It must have been decades since I heard the original Barry Leitch Amiga version, and I had forgotten most of it. I was surprised to discover that much of this track is directly lifted from the Amiga mod. It felt just impossible considering how mechanical the Amiga track sounds like!

This piano arrangement is stunningly emotional and fantastic reinterpretation of the mood of the song. It calls in mind something similarly absolutely beautiful, perhaps Tim Forsyth's Flight Path 737 comes close (and which can be heard elsewhere on this site).

In fairness, the original material is severely constrained technically because of its small file size and long play length that requires a slow tempo, and it uses just 3 channels, leaving one for the sound effects of the game. I guess the composition is also a tad simplistic, mostly using just 2 chords and rhythmically nothing more complicated than eighth notes, though I admit that they are placed very nicely.

I hope the piano score is useful for someone. The directory contains the MuseScore 2 project file as well, if someone wants to take a look at that.
