Turbo Outrun - Intro [s2] (dnb mix) - arranged by LPChipReview by LaLa, 01/10/2019 I like the idea of this remix more than the remix itself.Cutting up and rearranging the original SID, plus adding a few more instruments to it to enhance it - great idea! But I guess I expected more to come out of this. Repeating the intro bars ad infinitum makes this tiring to listen to. It gets more interesting in the middle, but that's more thanks to Jeroen's genius than anything else. I think, LPChip, you fell in love with your own idea a bit too much, and forgot to give it more polish. |

Turrican 1 (Outpost) - arranged by Dr FutureReview by Cube, 30/09/2019 Good orchestral arrange as well as a great mix. Super nostalgia factor, Iike always from Dr Future |

Tai-Pan (an ear movie) - arranged by Peter ClarkeReview by C64_Gamer, 29/09/2019 Very film-score-esq!! I had to give this several listens to hear everything that's going on and going in. Mr Clarke, your remixes get better and better and just like La La, you get extra points from me for including sub #2. It definitely captures the feel and atmosphere of the game and artistically and technically?? Well, Nailed 100%. A great remix. |

Last Ninja 2 - The Streets (Powerloaded) - arranged by Black BozzeReview by LaLa, 21/09/2019 The intro sounds promising, but then it fades into a SID mashup - bit of a letdown. It sounds good, but only because the original SID embedded into this track also sounds pretty good to begin with. I think some more thought given to the arrangement would've helped here. |

The Great Giana Sisters (Piano Live) - arranged by LightSideReview by LaLa, 17/09/2019 A thoughtful arrangement, very nicely played with appropriate feeling to it. I wish it was a little longer. |

Lizardking's Theme (Armandox Rework) - arranged by ArmandoxReview by hyperunknown/Noice, 10/09/2019 See, this is most likely the best of all remixes on the entire site. The buildups, the accords, selection of samples, preservation of the Doskpop-style. I mean come on, the choords and the lead, i get shivers down my spine. IRL. For real. Thanks for this one mate. Why the hell do I even bother having Spotify :p |

Generator Love ft. Cybernoid II - arranged by HeartekReview by Yahtzee, 02/09/2019 At first listen this presents as a tightly composed catchy pop song. Then I start absorbing the lyrics and I'm likeHey, what? This is ludicrous. Then I realise I've uncovered the Generatorfrom the title, which has generated random pseudo-profound lyrics. Clever! |

Just Good Friends feat. Raphael Biermann - arranged by omorocaReview by Poke16384, 31/08/2019 So.. it took me a while to work out that the original SID was 'Grave. sid' and that also gave me an opportunity to read the back story to the tune..Technically, this is very average. The vocal is lost in the mix at times, overshadowed by the piano and the timing wavers away in some sections when the drum machine isn't laying down a solid beat. (The biggest benefit of working in a studio environment is the ability to record in sections and most importantly, go back and redo the bits that aren't 'up to scratch'). There's no point recording stuff 'in one take' if it isn't tight enough. Artistically, this doesn't do the original SID tune justice. There are so many opportunities within this remix to incorporate some of the variations from the original. The piano dominates, pretty much throughout with the same 4 chord trick and gets boring. The drum-track would have benefited from some variation, (tons of variation in the sid) and in the vocal breaks there's not enough to fill the space. Perhaps another, stronger synth would have helped for the lead-line bits. Even some bits of vocal harmony, here & there, might have lifted the monotony. The spot fx that are there needed to be more prominent. From a 'nostalgia' viewpoint, it bears almost no resemblance to the sid. The original melody line is nowhere to be heard and with the exception of the main 4 chord piano part, this could be a different tune. At over 5 minutes in length there just isn't enough variation… |

Firelord - Symphonic (a nod to Glyn) - arranged by Peter ClarkeReview by LaLa, 31/08/2019 Whoo, boy, this is a tough one!On one hand, the technical achievements of this remix (… of a remix 😊 ) are undeniable. The instrumentation is as good as one can get without hiring a real orchestra in Prague (right, Chris? 😊 ). To me the absolute highlight of this arrangement are the new vocals/choirs that appear at 2:02 and towards the end - I wish they were featured more in this remix. On the other hand, this is justa refresh of a previously created arrangement, and thus, feels a bit redundant. Other than the different vocals, it doesn't add much to Glyn's 17 year old arrangement. One of the reasons I really like Glyn's 2019 arrangement is because it is NOT a rehash - he actually changed the arrangement in significant ways (IMHO, to its advantage), in addition to giving it an instrumental update. Don't get me wrong, Peter, the amount of work you put into this is phenomenal, and it really shows (thus my high marks). I know from myself how much one can learn by trying to deconstruct and then reconstruct somebody else's arrangement. But to be brutally honest, your remix is something I might not listen to much ever again, but I tend to listen to Glyn's on a regular basis, and I'm sure I will continue to do so until my ears turn blue. 😊 |

Challenge of the Gobots (Tribute to Ben) - arranged by Jogeir LiljedahlReview by LaLa, 23/08/2019 Wonderful! I really like the solemn slowed-down tempo here. The soft vocal is a nice touch. I was afraid this remix would go into the uptempo part of Gobots, too, but Jogeir was clever enough to omit that. Still, I wish this remix was longer… |

Tai-Pan (an ear movie) - arranged by Peter ClarkeReview by LaLa, 20/08/2019 Epic! Great use of the oriental sonic palette throughout, tastefully mixed with the synthy instruments. And big plus points for including subtune #2 in this remix which is my most favorite Tai-Pan track of all. What a trip! I can't get enough of it! 😊 Thanks for sharing it with us! |

Volleyball Simulator - arranged by Joe [Stainless Steel] BarwickReview by LaLa, 20/08/2019 What I like in this one is that it's trying to preserve the brutish, harsh sonic world of the original. I think it mostly succeeds, with the exception of the plinky leads, which sound out of place here. |

Rambo highscore - arranged by OJ OscillationReview by LaLa, 20/08/2019 This is really, umm, weird, it's strange, it's totally out there - and that's what I like about it. It's like OJ Oscillation took the original SID, created a remix out of it, then he saidaw, f--k it!, and then twisted and mangled the hell out of that remix - arriving at what you can listen to here. Very unusual, but quite enjoyable. |

Gordian Tomb (Extended PowerPunch Edit) - arranged by Zee EnergizerReview by LaLa, 20/08/2019 I find it impossible not to move my feet when listening to this great collaboration! Technically perfect, I really enjoy it! |

For Joanne (Experim. Aural Maneuvers) [Vinyl Mix] - arranged by LaLaReview by Poke16384, 19/08/2019 A little Jean-Michel-Jarre / Vangelis influence here methinks. Overall, a nice feel to this track with a good faithfulness to the chord-structure of the original.Towards the end, (around 3:50-4:05), the timing gets a touch loose between the choir-voices and the arpeg-bells. For me, the drums could have been a little more up-front to peg the timing down against the choir-voices which are strong in the mix. It's a pleasant listen overall - Nice One LaLa! |

Paperboy Hi-Score (Angelized) - arranged by LaLaReview by Poke16384, 19/08/2019 Wow! The master of reviews does a remix.. The concept is original, (sheep & campfire) and suits the acoustic guitar which is well executed and sets the mood. How fortunate you are, Imre, to have a choir on hand by your campfire, ha ha!Putting vocals in, makes this an unusual remix for this website but fair-play to you, for doing it. The remixes & covers that we upload here should push the boundaries. The melody and chord-structure of the original are kept faithfully with a couple of nice, tasty guitar variations. I almost believed you had a perfectly pitched singing voice, (just a couple of glitches in the pitch correction). My only crit - The lead-vocal is slightly ahead of the rest towards the end… Do you know what? Overall, this is different and out of the ordinary… and I think it deserves a decent score, just for that! (have you been listening to my remixes with lots of sounds behind the music? LOL). |

Crying in the Delta Wind - arranged by Mutherpluckin' BReview by Flidd, 13/08/2019 Awesome cover. Raw with a live feeling to it. Little mistakes here and there but it doesn't matter. |
|
Dragons Lair 2 - The Romantic River Epic - arranged by MaindrianReview by Flidd, 13/08/2019 Pleasant enough, but has some minor tuning and timing issues. And the overdriven guitar was unnecessary. |

2rrican (The Turrican2 Medley) - arranged by Graphite 3.6+Review by FunkyM, 07/08/2019 Having tried to create an Homage to Mr Siebold's SID Score to this Sensational sequel, I can appreciate this Metal-ised Medley all the more, for featuring the Bulk of the Tunes, up to and including the Title Screen, and Level 3-1.But yeah, Turrican- ah, excuse me, 2rrican ROCKS! |

Monty On The Run (I've Heard This Song Before) - arranged by druuReview by JonSolo42, 27/07/2019 Agreed, it's a great arrangement, and I don't even love DubSt. But as my son says, the old west pianosections are amazing and really make this one stand out. Love those transitions. |

End of All People (2nd) - arranged by Into DecayReview by LaLa, 23/07/2019 Honestly, I was not familiar with this JB tune before. This is not bad for thrash metal. I'm also curious what's Mordi's involvement in this track. I am guessing he is the lead singer? … 😉 |
|
Auf Wiedersehen Monty & Commando - arranged by Jeroen TelReview by omoroca, 22/07/2019 I know, you're supposed to be objective in a review. But as a fan of Hubbard *and* Tel, I can't help but to get goosebumps all over and listen to this cool stuff over and over and over all day long |

JT In Space (Man On The Moon ReDub) - arranged by DMCReview by LaLa, 05/07/2019 Most excellent!!!First of all, what great timing on this release: on the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing! Second, this is one really cool retro space disco infused, yet very modern sounding production! The sound bites, the vocoded vocal, the over-the-top drums, the arrangement, the mixing - everything is just top-notch all around. I really, really enjoy it! Thanks for sharing it with us! |
