Tetris (C64 Orchestral Mix) - arranged by Bastian DornbachReview by Tomsk, 09/02/2024 I figure if someone goes to the trouble of doing a 1:1 cover of this classic, capturing every note, then the least I can do is give a full review. So I confess the begining is quite underwhelming, although the flute is perfect choice for the lead. When the sample kicks in on the SID I miss the drama, with staccato strings doing their best to fill in…but from a slightly dissapointing start, things start to improve…massively ! Delicate use of strings begin to give this a Morricone-esque type feel…they are used cleverly, and you begin realise thisnewcomerknows exactly what he's doing. Subtle brass and woodwind create a perfect soundscape for the theme to evolve. Part 2 brings a suitable but perfect 'fairground' organ style sound to usher itself in…and again, we fall away a little for a short time…but all the while you just know this is slowly building. As the strings and brass combine again, I feel I hear the inspiration of Ernio again…Bastain seems to nail the dynamics here, and all that's missing is some female opera vocals. Superb ! At the 16 min mark we begin get extra percussion, offering some lovely crecendos. If you love this theme, don't be put off by the opening. I listened to this multiple times, and hugely enjoyed the 25mins. Yes, there are small areas to improve, but Bastain has excelled in bringing a very, very good remix of a challenging SID. This is more or less a 1:1 version of the original, and perhaps in future this clearly talented musician can add a little of his own flair. For a first submission this is excellent, and I for one, can't wait to hear what he does next. Well done ! |

The Magic Writer - arranged by Eivind SommerstenReview by Divus, 09/02/2024 A very good combination of vocals and instruments. It could be a little longer next time in a slightly higher octave. |

The Magic Writer - arranged by Eivind SommerstenReview by LaLa, 07/02/2024 I am in total awe. Both by the quantity, but especially by the quality of your remixes. How you managed to create this wonderfully emotional piece out of a 1:22 long SID tune is beyond me. Just amazing. That opening with the muted trumpet - so delicate, so gentle. And when the singer comes in - wow. And it just builds up from there. I really do enjoy this, and pretty much all the rest of your work, too. Thank you for sharing your art with us! The world is richer now because of you. |

Lightforce - arranged by SlaygonReview by coyote64, 05/02/2024 You never fail to amaze me even with less than 15 words because words not really needed 😊 |

Empty (Amiga MOD Remix) - arranged by acrouzetReview by BeeZerk, 25/01/2024 What an atmospheric piece! Blown away by the additional/alternated bassline towards the end.You recognise the original immediately but it's still innovative enough to be individual, Love it! Stunning work! |

X98 - arranged by BeeZerkReview by Divus, 24/01/2024 A very good remix might need to be a little longer but it's also well done. |

X98 - arranged by BeeZerkReview by LaLa, 21/01/2024 It takes guts to even attempt to remix this SID tune, which is one of the best composed tunes ever (not just among SIDs, but in general). You managed to lift it up and 'modernize' it with a sonic landscape that's piercing yet melancholic, just like the original. The arrangement is easily recognizable, yet fresh and uniquely yours. The more I listen to this, the more I like it. |

Myth - arranged by Eivind SommerstenReview by Divus, 11/01/2024 That's what I call a remix in 2024. Always insert vocals from the opera. One of the best Eivind remixes. |

Myth - arranged by Eivind SommerstenReview by LaLa, 10/01/2024 I am going to be a party pooper here and bring this remix down a notch. It sounds great, but it also sounds like you threw everything but the kitchen sink at it, and as a result, artistically it's all over the place, and doesn't sound very cohesive to me. The individual instruments all sound amazing, you made them bring all their fitting articulations to the table, from the trumpet to the solo singer. But. 😁I also felt like I should've kept a live Again, from a purely sonic perspective, the individual sections all sound fantastic. The entire tune is mixed to perfection. But I think it's just trying to cram way too much into 4 and a half minutes. |

Emerald Mine - arranged by LaLaReview by Oliver Klaewer, 04/01/2024 Thank you for this remix. It's sound-wise pretty close to what I heard when I composed the song on the synth. Absolutely well done. |

Emerald Mine - arranged by LaLaReview by Tomsk, 31/12/2023 Cracking synth pop remix here, in what is now becoming a bit of a (TM) style for Imre. Nails this tune and takes it into it's respective era, with great attention to detail, and well chosen instruments to complement the original. Everything is here from the original, and the pitch pends are perfection. A solid and varied drum track keeps your toes tapping along the way, and nods to the original SID help remind you of this tunes' origins….However, it's now impossible to listen to the original SID without hearing the vocoder 😊 Another very satisfying remix, well done. |

Delta (live at The Church for Transmission 64) - arranged by Reyn OuwehandReview by LaLa, 28/12/2023 Yawn, yet another remix of Delta?!?… Just kidding! 😀 I absolutely adore the heavy use of the organ. (Hmm, an organ in The Church? Whoever heard of such a… Oh, I get it! Nice touch, Reyn! 😜) I feel like this could've easily gone double the length, Reyn's improv skills are just that good. |

Bombo (live at The Church for Transmission 64) - arranged by Reyn OuwehandReview by LaLa, 28/12/2023 Folks, please, keep in mind that the original SID tune is barely over 2 minutes long, and Reyn doesn't even get to the end of his intro before the 3 minute mark in this remix… Reyn's wide spectrum of musical talent is in full display here. Just listen and be in awe, or watch the video of it from the Transmission64 concert and be even more in awe - because this is all played and mixed live! |
|
Parallax (live at The Church for Transmission 64) - arranged by Reyn OuwehandReview by LaLa, 28/12/2023 Amazing buildup into a full-blown symphony of sounds. But to me the most favorite part of this remix is the elongated outro - total mic-drop moment, likeReyn is OUT!It sounded absolutely mind-blowing at Transmission64, and still sounds just 🤯! |

Tiger Mission (liveThe Church for Transmission 64) - arranged by Reyn OuwehandReview by LaLa, 28/12/2023 What a wonderful piano improv over the beat of the original! You can feel it's from the heart… |

Drums on the Run - arranged by Eivind SommerstenReview by Divus, 27/12/2023 A pure energy that overflows from a second in a second .It would be good to insert the opera vocals . |

The Way of the Exploding Fist - arranged by MolomReview by Methanoid, 21/12/2023 by far the best exploding fist remix ive heard, dont often hear mixes of this tune but loved it instantly. |

The Way of the Exploding Fist - arranged by MolomReview by al.x, 19/12/2023 Innovative yet still true to the original sound! I love that new talented musicians are joining this community in 2023! |

Green Beret (live at The Church Transmission 64) - arranged by Reyn OuwehandReview by LaLa, 14/12/2023 Massive musical talent in full display here. I absolutely adore the use of organ sound in the intro! And then it just keeps building up and building up in a long, amazing crescendo, ultimately developing into an epic piece. When I first heard this entire concert while attending Transmissions64 online, I was completely mesmerized. Actually, that's not even the right word. The only other time I felt similarly is when I attended the Mythodea concert by Vangelis in person in Athens. I felt completely awestruck in the presence of a massive musical talent, overwhelmed and completely swept away by the moment we are all shared together with him. And during Reyn's performance I felt the same way again. If you haven't, yet, do yourself a favor and watch his entire performance that he linked in the video here. His tributes to Johannes Bjerregaard make me cry every single time I watch it. And I watched this video a LOT since it was first published. I hope, Reyn, that you'll consider uploading the other pieces from your live T64 performance to RKO, too. Thank you, Reyn, for sharing these wonderful moments with us! |

Mystery (Abyss Game 2) - arranged by Eivind SommerstenReview by LaLa, 12/12/2023 Superb! The quality of the instruments is absolutely top-notch, from the violin to the choir. I love the arrangement, too, it carries sooo much emotion! And I'm always in awe in the quality of your mixing. Every note has its place here, every phrase tells us something, every passage evokes deep feelings. Again: superb! |

Green Beret (live at The Church Transmission 64) - arranged by Reyn OuwehandReview by Tomsk, 09/12/2023 There are musicians, there are SID artists, there are remixers who grace this site with their artistic efforts….and then there is Reyn…the complete package, which will never be bettered. How lucky are we that this immense talent still finds time for the scene. I'm in awe, wonderful stuff. |

Falcon Tn - arranged by Eivind SommerstenReview by LaLa, 04/12/2023 How the heck is this the first remix of this popular tune!?! Funkiness is dialed up to the max in this one, really good! The brass section is especially alive here, I like the echo on it. I wish the synth lead sounds were thicker, though (or replaced with a sax), they kinda get lost in all the funkiness. But otherwise, it's very, very enjoyable. |
|
Nebulas - arranged by Eivind SommerstenReview by LaLa, 01/12/2023 I've been listening to this remix a lot lately. And I mean, a LOT. It's a wonderful melancholic piece. You captured the haunting beauty of the melody line perfectly, complemented by a selection of sounds that work together in great harmony, all mixed together flawlessly. Great work, I really, really do enjoy it! |

Green Beret (live at The Church Transmission 64) - arranged by Reyn OuwehandReview by NecroPolo, 30/11/2023 This live act is absolutely next level. If you call yourself a C64remix fan, do yourself a favour and watch the complete video. It is also a great tribute to Johannes Bjerregaard who passed last year.I must admit that I started remixing C64 tunes after listening to Reyn's Green Beret live rendition 16 years ago. After all those years, it was great to meet him in person @X2023 where it turned out that he is not only an incredible fellow performer but a really cool guy as well. Than you Reyn for being what you are. |

Hades Nebula (Quinque annis post) - arranged by LaLaReview by NecroPolo, 28/11/2023 Universe and dark matter in their cold cruelty are honest at least. Time to think, re-wire, assemble pieces, process the puzzle of past to prepare. Exactly what I need for the moment. Thanks for the experience. |

Commando - arranged by Instant RemedyReview by LaLa, 22/11/2023 Review in 2023. As many have pointed it out over the decades, this remix makes heavy use of the original SID as-is, Still, I think that's what makes it so powerful: the strong sense of nostalgia that those sounds and musical phrases evoke. The first time I ever heard this remix was at one of the early BIT Live events in a club setting - and in that environment, it was an absolute blast to listen to. I could also knock it for what this remix isn't, but instead, I choose to enjoy it for what it is: a highly danceable version of a classic and legendary Rob Hubbard SID tune (which, let's not forget, is a remix itself). |
|
Outcheesed (Le Petit Chevre) - arranged by WobblerReview by LaLa, 20/11/2023 I'll be honest: I don't why, but I really dig this remix! Just the right amount of nostalgic 8-bit arpeggios mixed with modern production and an excellent arrangement, not to mention the clean mix. One of my insta-favorites from the BIT Live 2023 Remix Compo. I just keep playing it over and over and over… |

Rambo First Blood Arp 2 - arranged by Tim ForsythReview by Elro, 19/11/2023 Fantastic remix. Some nice fat synth sounds and plenty of variation from the original to keep us interested. Super! |
|
Cybernoid II-Do Androids Dream Of Electric Zombies - arranged by 0supereg0Review by LaLa, 16/11/2023 Creative subtitle, I like it! The remix is nice enough, but the arrangement is lacking the drive and oomph of the original. I get it, it was deliberately made more 'dreamy', but it just sort of drudges along and doesn't really go anywhere. The instrumentation is nice, the mix is fine, I just wish it had more overall artistic direction. |
|
Coco Intro (Hot Coco Edit) - arranged by Ctrl-ZReview by LaLa, 12/11/2023 I like the cassette tape intro, nice touch! Where this remix starts to get interesting to me is at 2:00 into it - I quite like that section! And the rest of it is highly dance able, too, it's a nice remix. |
