Comic Bakery (feat Hanna Kappelin & Morpheus) - arranged by o2Review by canuck, 27/05/2005 Okay, while I'm not the one to push forward and tell the world how much I love this or that… here and now I have to make an exception.To date I thought no arranger could get close to Instant Remedy's mix of Comic Bakery (and please don't misunderstand, IR's mix is still out of this world and I have 'tortured' my wife by playing it at least a million times) but this one catches up and then some. While I have to disagree with other reviews that this has Jean Michel Jarre written all over it it sure spells K R A F T W E R K. Rightfully so, Kraftwerk have defined electronic music like nobody else after them. Might as well aim at the best. Enough talking, time to rate: Technically this is a work of beauty, the artistic impression is right on par but I deduct the obligatory point for nostalgic impression because the Acapella approach just doesn't bring those old SID flashbacks to mind. It's a good thing because I re-learned how uniqe and cool this song actually is because the mix doesn't just COPY, it re-defines… |

The original SID is a great piece of groovy, funky music and thankfully, this remix stays very true to that spirit. I think the instrument selection is spot on and the arrangement is excellent. Never fails to bring a smile to my face. |

Savage (sub 2 from 80ies 2 now) - arranged by PutziReview by LaLa, 23/05/2005 Since it is one of my favorite SID tunes, here's a longer review of this tune instead of just a shout.The opening is kick-ass, the bass is really cool, but most of the lead instruments should've been selected more carefully. They sound tedious and they wear me down. Or they're simply thin and out of place. Although the remix tries to be in the 80's style, I don't feel a lot of 80's radiating from this one. A better groove would've probably helped there. All in all, a nice effort, but this tune deserves so much more. |

Last Ninja III (qso-mix) - arranged by CirdanReview by Tomsk, 19/05/2005 Another tune to pass me by - but I've had plenty of time to hear it over and over, and I happy to report that it hits the spot. Production is nice and choice of instruments good too (except the ahh-choir at the start… which sounds like a tracker sample). Everytime I hear this I picture a movie's opening credits - which I think it would sound great in. Very very good stuff! |

Game Over - arranged by KenzReview by Tomsk, 19/05/2005 Gosh - this tune must have been out for ages before I finally managed to hear it (on a slay radio show - no less). Yeah I know there's a whole load of the original chucked in there, but it's very well balanced. To be honest, there's nothing I don't like about this - and lots of things I do. The Sid lead sounds fresh - as do all of the drums… and that bass line is superb.This is one that nearly passed me by, and I can't really remember being a fan of the original, but this is a great little cover. Bang on stuff - and a current fav on my compilation at the moment. A bit of a shame that lovely bass and main theme couldn't have lasted a bit longer - but all in all I really love this. |

When he does his magic mixture of "enhanced" spacedance, eurodisco and trance. Never heard the original but it doesn't matter, I only had to hear this tune once to love it! Nice, smooth sound and good use of sounds. Cool voice sample too This is not the first time Sonic inspired me to make music, I feel like just going home from work and start making music. Too bad there is no time for that in the nearest future. Thanks for the music Sonic! |

Great Giana Sisters - arranged by machinae supremacyReview by buzzard, 11/05/2005 Most tracks have a shelf life of around 3 months generally speaking, you listen to it, like it, add to a good few playlists or burn onto several homemade compilation cds etc.THen, inevitably, you get bored of hearing it and find something new to listen to. This particular track is now a well over 3 years old and has lost none of the 'wow' factor from when I first heard it! Not only was this one of the best remixes ever written, it still is as good, if not better than anything else since. For those who never had a c64 - it's an amazing piece of music. For those who grew up with a c64, it's a real sweet flashback as well. The only question that remains now, is what happened to Machinae Supremacy??? Someone needs to kidnap whoever was responsible for this gem and lock them in a recording studio ASAP! |

Furycalypse Now (feat. Tuomio) - arranged by AxemanReview by plokolp, 02/05/2005 I loved this one. I am not familiar with the original SID, so I gave a neutral on that one. Great guitar work. More importantly, I think this piece of music achieves what all great music should do - it makes you think and reflect on things. With a war theme and samples of the movie, this is a great tune that really got me thinking about the futility of war. This is powerful stuff. The choppers, the gas, the gunfire, the scream when the guy is shot - brilliant. The haunting last words of 'Someday this war is going to end" take this fantastic remix out. Oh, did I mention I really liked the guitar work? |

Very nice to hear this in Sonic-perfection. The compression sounds a bit like it pumps when you listen for the first time, but later this feeling goes away 😉Not sounding like the average dance-tune, thats for sure. By all means, it's great that this tune finally got done, bust some of the instruments and leads REALLY need fixing If this is was fully polished up, bad instruments removed, and re-released, it would get a much higher ranking than I give it. |

Bruce Lee (Psycho Mix) - arranged by Bart KlepkaReview by puppet_xeno, 07/04/2005 I am not offended by the lack of technical or artistic creativity, as I agree on the drums emphasizing the strength of the original sidtune and the original Bruce Lee (the Dude!) samples to state the nostalgia of this entirety. Overall this mix pleases me, really! yet as an artist I must say more could have been done with extra synths and better, more dynamic and/or more persuasive drum sounds. |

IK+ (Chemical Stadium Remix) - arranged by DHSReview by puppet_xeno, 06/04/2005 The screaming audience samples make this mix sound so over-the-top it almost becomes ridiculous. But it's a very original approach and it did give me goosebumps at some points, and that's mainly positive. It sounds very lively and because of this it is easily overlooked that the rest of the production isn't VERY innovative and would get a bit boring as it's just a lot of repeating patterns - nevertheless I can really enjoy listening to it. Brings back memories and places them in a different light. |

Sanxion (Techno Mix) - arranged by KrakuReview by wwwwolf, 03/04/2005 This thing has, quite simply, some Groove(tm).I can't quire say why I like this thing so much, but I think this is pretty much a good example of "mechanical" music, and I don't mean it in bad way. It makes me think mechanical, and I love it. It makes me think of robots and battlemechs and stuff. It makes me feel I should *move* that way too. Weird feeling, I tell you. I didn't even really play the game that much (but still Rob rules, and the original was pretty nice too, I guess), but I still really really got caught in this thing. I wonder, somehow I think Rob is really really cool on SID, then all sorts of people come along and make remixes that are just as good or better. This is one such ocassion: Original was pretty decent, remix just plain rules. In closing, um, this thing rocks. That's all. |

After all, not bad at all. |
