Human Race (tune 4) - arranged by Tim ForsythReview by LaLa, 16/08/2023 Mesmerizing! It was a stroke of a genius to cover it in this style and signature. And I completely bought it, too - until 2:39. The relatively sudden change in the rhythm there disrupted my gentle rocking, and the arrangement falls apart a bit after that, especially when it comes to the coda starting at around 4:08 with that syncopated lead. But overall, those are comparatively minor distractions in an otherwise excellent piece. |

Purple Liner Intro (Dystopia in Ukraine) - arranged by Yogi & CosmiqReview by neo, 08/08/2023 A haunting tune with effective use of samples to create the right atmosphere. Interesting use of percussion and effects to create the level of tension. |

Kikstart II remix - arranged by Nadin0xD400Review by Scaver, 07/08/2023 I do encourage new remixers in the scene as they bring fresh ideas and blood renewal for the benefit and joy of everyone. As for a track among first remixes, it is indeed promising. However, I can deeply sense the wing testing factor here. As others already constructively noted, the soundscape needs improvement, the track does not provide any own added values (new ideas, solos, structure rearrangement…etc.) and the sound is a bit pulsing to me personally all over the track. Arok party 1st place well deserved? Definitely not. There were way better remixes on Arok but voting is always a tricky thing during parties as many factors may apply (e.g. not everyone votes who likes this or that track, meticulously crafted products may not prevail due to poor local acoustic features of the party place, name voting…etc.). Nevertheless, I feel that we have a great new player in the field and hope to get more remixes in the future with more elaboration and own added values that really distinct the final product. So keep up the good work! |

Cybernoid II (C64 Modern Mix) - arranged by X-WaveReview by Dan, 06/08/2023 Give this one a bit of time, shame it takes to long to hit the spot |

Gerry the Germ (tune 2) - arranged by Tim ForsythReview by The_Blode, 05/08/2023 Britpop vibes and a little and those synth keys have so much nostalgia in their melody. I said to Slaygon it's like game end music…and it ended the Arok remix compo so go figure 😃 another great tune from Tim! Cheers |

Plastic Pop (Plastic Fantastic) - arranged by WobblerReview by The_Blode, 05/08/2023 LOVE this tune! So poppy…this kind of bubblegum pop is my guilty pleasure. I honestly didn't know it was an AI until I read the comments but it doesn't sully the tune for me. Excellent work…my vote for best remix 2023 is this. Also, the lyrics hit home HARD! lol also BIG nostalgic vibes here. |

Out of Nothing (feat. Atom Guitar) - arranged by Eivind SommerstenReview by Waz, 27/07/2023 Thoroughly enjoyable, especially with the flute giving way to the guitar. And definitely we need people to appreciate the late Kjell's music a lot more - hugely under-rated in my view. So something to do him justice (as this does, and rocks pretty hard) is welcome. The only thing I'd probably change a little is the middle section - it maybe needs a litlte more definition, but does also break up the tune nicely too. Rock on. |

Tristesse - arranged by Dr FutureReview by Waz, 27/07/2023 I would have given this higher, but even though it sounds fine, this remix has all the emotion of DRAX's original piece torn out of it. Only when the SID lead comes back in does that emotion come back (because that's something DRAX was always superb at). It doesn't cut it for me - the guitar is nice enough but definitely feels like it's also too long compared to the original. A more cut down version may have worked better in this instance. |
|
Shogun - arranged by AarrowReview by Waz, 27/07/2023 Potential here for definite, a little spoilt by too much reverb being here. There's actually a nice use of some Oriental instruments but they're a little buried underneath, and need to be igven the time to shine - as in fact it does later in the mix. Maybe also it needs a little shortening by say 30-60 seconds, but definite potential - and kudos for picking a lesser known composer also. |

Gerry the Germ (tune 2) - arranged by Tim ForsythReview by Waz, 27/07/2023 How this got a mere 6th in the Arok Party competition, I don't know. Seriously.I really enjoy the indie rock style of this one, and definitely with the guitar cranked up to Britpop levels, it definitely shows something different for this tune as well, and makes for a very enjoyable listen. The only thing I would possibly look at is a possible change of the long lead at the start of the verse, but apart from that, an admirable effort. |

Kikstart II remix - arranged by Nadin0xD400Review by Waz, 27/07/2023 Whilst I can see the potential here for me (and bear in mind I'm a big fan of Shaun Southern games), and that there's most of the feel of the original, for me it doesn't quite get it right - the drums do attempt to give it a faster pace than the original but somehow works against the other instruments in the mix mix, meaning it feels a little lost.Should it have won the Arok Party competition in my view? No. Is it enjoyable to listen to? Initially yes, but does grate a bit after a while. That all said, there is potential for Naxin0xD400 to go on to greater things and definitely that should be encouraged and nutured to become even better. There is promise here definitely. |

Kikstart II remix - arranged by Nadin0xD400Review by Poke16384, 23/07/2023 Is this good? Is it very good or is it truly outstanding..? For me, it's a damn good 1st synthy remix but not 'red'. Nadin can obviously create a coherent tune and add appropriate sounds but there are issues here. The drum track is a bit out of sync with the rest of the soundscape and there are places where it should be driving the beat but it's hitting on off-beats instead of downbeats which tends to detract from the overall energy.. There isn't really any invention here either, just a straight 1:1 cover with different sounds. An AROK winner..? For me, there were better remixes in that final Top 10 but I get that people who voted at AROK heard all remixes just once and Kikstart II is kinda catchy. I hope that Nadin will not just read this and feel it's all negative. There IS promise here and I've always been about encouraging new remixers to carry on and make more & better remixes. Lord knows, we need the new blood in the remix scene but.. overvoting new, average to good remixes with 'red' smileys doesn't help the new remixer. It tells them that they've already reached the highest possible standard for Remix64. If Nadin doesn't get the encouragement to improve, what happens when the listener novelty wears off and suddenly she receives 'greys' & 'yellows'.? It isn't helpful or constructive for those better, future remixes.. or Nadin. So, ignoring any mixing or mastering issues, (those techniques should also develop as she does), this IS a good remix. Please Nadin, push forward and make more remixes.. Study & improve your DAW & instrument programming skills.. Develop your musicianship craft and blow us all away.. |

Sanxion - arranged by MRTReview by rnuls, 21/07/2023 This remix is one of my favorite case it's vers inspired with a good realization. Retrograde Motion - arranged by Paleface the NitewalkerReview by MonoTeksist Vs Mutanty Phenab, 21/07/2023 Sorry but I can't see this being called a remix. The Steve Rowlands track is one I'd like to remix myself because of its impressive techno sound but the remix here is a totally different genre and lacks all of the ingredients I admired from the original. |

Game On Issue 591 Hardrave Mix - arranged by RavetracerReview by MonoTeksist Vs Mutanty Phenab, 21/07/2023 This tune obviously has the trance DNA, a genre I'm not too fond of but the energy it has is really impressive! In fact it's become my to-go track whenever I need an adrenaline boost. To be honest I've never even heard the original but I think I might be slightly disappointed since how can it ever top this remix?I can't see why I wouldn't give it the full 10/10 … |

Kikstart II remix - arranged by Nadin0xD400Review by LaLa, 16/07/2023 I'm so glad to hear that my homey, Nadin, is continuing to create remixes! For a second remix (EVER!), this is pretty good. The arrangement is fine, although nothing too exciting, the individual instruments are a bit bland, but it all works. Where I find the biggest issue with this piece is in the mixing: those big boomy bass drums (e.g. at 0:04 and 0:16, and elsewhere) completely overwhelm the mix for a couple of seconds at a time, ducking everything else. Some call it The drum track itself sounds a bit off to me, I think that could be better. Those issues aside, again, for a SECOND remix this is pretty promising, so I hope you'll continue creating more remixes in the future, too, Nadin! |

Think Twice III Arok Entry - arranged by Tony Fluke73 WirenReview by LaLa, 16/07/2023 This mix definitely sounds like your best so far, kudos for that! I really like that choir sound, too. Switching to different instruments in the lead was a great idea. This should've placed higher at the Árok compo for sure! The ending is a bit abrupt, though, I wish you worked on that more. |

Angel (Merry X-Max) - arranged by LagerfeldtReview by Danko, 15/07/2023 Makke, are you aware that many say Dune's best track is Starchild? Only, Dune never did that track. I did.My favorite part is where Holger play those break percussions live. The fact that this remix never hit the radio charts back then is quite the conundrum… |
|
Yes Comment - arranged by FZNReview by Danko, 15/07/2023 MIDI production aside, it took me months until I finally got this one. The concept is great, so thank you for remixing something I've made. We should redo this with a live saxophonist and some smoover grooves one day. |
|
Tristesse - arranged by Dr FutureReview by LaLa, 13/07/2023 Hmm, there are several things this remix gets right, but even more things it doesn't. The instrument selection and the mixing is top-notch, no question there. The lead sounds are fine, but there's something missing there, too. I can't put my finger on exactly what, because the lead guitar has all the right articulations and variations, yet, it doesn't sound particularly exciting to me. The biggest culprit in my eyes is the monotonous drums - they just play the same 4 bars throughout, which gets rather old pretty fast. And then the lack of proper closure (i.e. the abrupt ending) is also odd - it's like you got bored with the remix and just decided to end it suddenly. I think this remix has more potential in it than what it actually delivers. |

Yes Comment (Prophet in a new day) - arranged by MozolowskiReview by myridian, 10/07/2023 I was looking out of the window on an overcast morning. It felt like it was about to rain, an overall gloomy feeling. Then this song randomly came on and the moment became magical. The song is somewhat strange, I'd say it has an unearthly feeling to it, probably because of thebreaking-offsynth-arpeggio line. It did fit that morning perfectly. Thank you for creating it. |

Thanatos (when the panic sets in) - arranged by Tim ForsythReview by astral, 07/07/2023 Even though I like clean ambient music, this one occupies a special place in my heart. Soul touching and Nostalgic would be two words to describe this track. |
|
Shogun - arranged by AarrowReview by LaLa, 06/07/2023 Making something out of an 11 seconds long tune is not easy. This is a good effort marred by a messy arrangement and instruments that clash with each other left and right. I think your choice of mostly oriental instruments was a good one, they just overlap each other too much (maybe because of the lengthy reverbs). |
|
Cybernoid II (C64 Modern Mix) - arranged by X-WaveReview by LaLa, 05/07/2023 A tale of two remixes. The first half (up until 2:21) is just not to my liking at all. Simplistic drums, simplistic instrumentation, and most importantly, the chord progression sounds off (compared to the original). I get it, you were going for that The second half of this remix, however, would probably get an orange if it was a tune by itself. That part is done more to my liking, with the electric guitars dominating it and the drums driving the rhythm so well. |

Giana Sisters Main Theme Symphonic Piano Remix - arranged by KjetilnReview by Empee, 30/06/2023 I Love this. It's very well played. The finger work hits all the spots and is nicely supported in the background. |

Hotrod - arranged by Tim ForsythReview by LaLa, 14/06/2023 Ah, thank you for remixing this oft-forgotten subtune! I've been wondering how to remix it for many years now, but never got around to actually doing it. Glad somebody else dug it out and just did it! PS: That honk at 2:09 - haha, nice touch! |
