A Short Story behind Echoes of Eternity

In August 2023, we started to write a birthday demo tune for Proton and Pal, who were turning 50 later that year. The tune initially featured the traditional Happy Birthday to You melody, but then transitioned into a completely different tune.

JLD finished the intro and the first melody of Echoes and sent it to Rock, who liked it immediately and began working on his part of the tune. At the same time, we decided to release it on a different demo rather than as a birthday demo.

We also began to remix it, even before the SID was finished. Rock usually composes his melodies on his guitar before translating them into SID.

So, actually, the remix was finished before the SID. To have the remix released on RKO, we needed to release a demo with the SID.

We saw our opportunity for a release at the Fjälldata party held in February and decided to compete in the music competition. On short notice, both Serato and Pal did an incredible job preparing a great player/demo for Fjälldata.

Echoes ended up in an honorable 4th place.
