Story

Remixing something in the style of is always a fun case for me because it involves a deep dive into the history of certain bands or genres, in this case Depeche Mode.
Being a Depeche Mode fan since their beginning in the early 80s, I was intentionally looking for an Amiga track that serves well for this purpose - and although a bit too happy and shallow in places - Rallye Master did.
I aimed for the DM sound around 1983 when they already discovered sampling but most of their songs still relied on analogue synths and unlike later, no guitars.
So, I recreated Rallye Master in that certain style, only using real analogue synths as well as virtual versions of the synths they used back then, eg. Drumolator, Roland Jupiter 8, PPG Wave, Emulator etc.
On top I tried to adapt the production processes of the 80s, stuff like only using one reverb for almost everything and even mastering on a analogue tape.
I hope you appreciate the effort!

Personally, I think the original Rallye Master Obarski tune is a bit uninspiring (ducks hail of rotten tomatoes thrown his way…), but Romeo Knight makes the most out of the material with a genius idea: make it into a Depeche Mode pastiche! It's spot on! Really well done, the early 80s style is instantly recognizable.
