Tim Forsyth - Gerry the Germ (tune 2)
993. in all-time charts
This is a big departure for me and a bit of an experiment.
I have been learning (acoustic) guitar on and off for the past year and a month ago, a friend mentioned he had a bunch of electric guitars in storage in the attic so I had to ask if I could borrow one.
I surprised myself, not only is it a lot of fun (and forgiving) to play, but by layering many tracks and hiding behind distortion, it sounded like I was almost competant.
I found this track idley scrolling through Hubbard on deepsid strumming along to different Sids, figuring out the songs. Hang on, I thought, this innocent germ track has 8 chords, didn't expect that.
Things somehow came together real fast and after 3 evening sessions, I had a finished the arrangement, spending a few more days mixing / tweaking / mastering.
Maybe I'll do more in a similar vein in future, not sure, feel like I need a bit more practice to be properly comfortable. I'm glad I tried this though, it was a lot of fun to make and there's not enough indie rock / pop on RKO.
This remix came 6th in the arok remix competition.

I really enjoy the indie rock style of this one, and definitely with the guitar cranked up to Britpop levels, it definitely shows something different for this tune as well, and makes for a very enjoyable listen. The only thing I would possibly look at is a possible change of the long lead at the start of the verse, but apart from that, an admirable effort.
