Story

I started this back in December last year and loved the sound of switching up the signature from 4/4 to 6/8. For me it added this satisfying swing to the track but for various reasons I abandoned it.

So it seemed like a good idea to pick it up again and see where it took me.

Sadly, when I came to add the fast paced lead at the end of the original, it refused to translate to 6/8 so I just made a bunch of stuff up taking that lead as inspiration. You can kind of hear where it comes from and I was torn about the ending because it is so different, but, changing the time signature meant that this remix is not quite Human Race anyway but reminiscent of it, just like the ending.

Hope you like it.

Edit: Totally agree with what Eivind said, and lala. It's a bit of a schizophrenic mix, what started as a shoegazey guitar track, morphed into something else thanks to the passage of time. Ironically, it's probably the best production I've ever done but it's a remix that doesn't know what it wants to be. I love the opening, I love the end, but they don't quite join up. Thanks guys for being so honest, it's much appreciated.

First of all, kudos for the signature change - I think it works really well. It also helps bring out the alternating bass which is perfectly mixed and another standout feature of this remix.

My gripe here is that there is too little variation in dynamics in the overall arrangement. After the bass comes in around 0:30 there really isn't that much change. In my humble opinion this remix would be perfect starting out super softly and saving more of the pomp (like the choir, which otherwise also works well) until the very end.

Otherwise it's really good!

Mesmerizing! It was a stroke of a genius to cover it in this style and signature. And I completely bought it, too - until 2:39. The relatively sudden change in the rhythm there disrupted my gentle rocking, and the arrangement falls apart a bit after that, especially when it comes to the coda starting at around 4:08 with that syncopated lead. But overall, those are comparatively minor distractions in an otherwise excellent piece.
