Story

This is one of my all time favourite SIDs and I have been chipping away at it for months.

It hasn't quite turned out as I would have hoped… the opening, which I assumed would be the easiest proved to be impossible to get right. Arpeggios like the original (which are now leading the track out) didn't fit well in my mix.

That said, I think after the first 30 seconds it finds it's groove. Making all the percussive fx and elements, which I thought would be hard, was a joy. Aside from the 808s in the mid section and the crash cymbal, everything is analogue.

I put a lot of effort into making sounds that pay tribute to the original, many of which use Dagger, by BeepStreet. This is a fantastic mono synth, so if you have a Mac it's worth checking out.

The new section in the middle is for pacing and the robot / speak and spell part near the end completes a part of the original I always felt was unfinished.

Perfection as usual 👍 Great track Tim 😉
Sounds are very well done and fit the original really good. A bit rushed through the first patterns, but that's understandable since the song is already rather long with the (good) new part added. Still closer to :D then to :) so full score. TY4Sharing.
Wonderful and that 3:40 part!:)
Simply awesome stuff, bah!
You had me at the first note. Most faithful adaption of the tune IMHO, as I had always imagined it. I love it so much! My personal ROTY.
Another excellent remix, Tim
Awesome! You nailed it damned good, Tim! Just like how I imagine the original work.
Ohhh, what a pleasure
Love this track. Love this remix.

Overall rating

For me it'll always be hard to top Hülsbeck's own 1991 remake of this tune from his same-named album, or Detert's slower paced version from the R64 v2 album, but this comes really darn close to those, especially since Tim put his own spin on this tune. So many nice touches here with carefully chosen instruments, and a wonderful arrangement to boot. Very nicely done, Tim!
