Story

I was actually working on this remix when news came that Johannes had passed. For a while, I stopped working on it, but then realised there's no better way to honour a composer than to remix their work. Sweet has been remixed a number of times, and I tried to capture the sadness of the tune, but also make it uplifting at the close. The choice of title (Bitter Sweet) is pretty self explanatory. Gone but never forgotten amongst SID fans - his music will always live on.

Many thanks to Danko for some great mastering.

Not one of Tomsk's best and I would have like to had a little bit more choir in this... But Sweet is on the C64s best tunes so it's hard not to upvote and enjoy the heck out of it.
Fantastic arrangement, brilliantly mixed, great work Tomsk!
Fantastic arrangement with a good selection of instruments

From what I believe, you never really had much time to piece this track together. If this is true, you managed to knock out out superb composition pal 😊 Great work.

Great take on one of the most emotional SIDs ever written. You've taken it to a different place. It feels like you gave all the players freedom to improvise parts from the original SID. Nevertheless it keeps close to the original! Perhaps a bit too much at some times, but hey that's what remixing is all about.

We all have our own ways to grieve. This is your way, Tomsk, and I'm with you.

Slowed down this piece is even more melancholic. Love the added choirs and vocals. The layers and layers of instruments in the climax. The vocal-driven coda.

Thank you, Tomsk, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
