Green Beret (live at The Church Transmission 64) - arranged by Reyn OuwehandReview by LaLa, 14/12/2023 Massive musical talent in full display here. I absolutely adore the use of organ sound in the intro! And then it just keeps building up and building up in a long, amazing crescendo, ultimately developing into an epic piece. When I first heard this entire concert while attending Transmissions64 online, I was completely mesmerized. Actually, that's not even the right word. The only other time I felt similarly is when I attended the Mythodea concert by Vangelis in person in Athens. I felt completely awestruck in the presence of a massive musical talent, overwhelmed and completely swept away by the moment we are all shared together with him. And during Reyn's performance I felt the same way again. If you haven't, yet, do yourself a favor and watch his entire performance that he linked in the video here. His tributes to Johannes Bjerregaard make me cry every single time I watch it. And I watched this video a LOT since it was first published. I hope, Reyn, that you'll consider uploading the other pieces from your live T64 performance to RKO, too. Thank you, Reyn, for sharing these wonderful moments with us! |

Mystery (Abyss Game 2) - arranged by Eivind SommerstenReview by LaLa, 12/12/2023 Superb! The quality of the instruments is absolutely top-notch, from the violin to the choir. I love the arrangement, too, it carries sooo much emotion! And I'm always in awe in the quality of your mixing. Every note has its place here, every phrase tells us something, every passage evokes deep feelings. Again: superb! |

Green Beret (live at The Church Transmission 64) - arranged by Reyn OuwehandReview by Tomsk, 09/12/2023 There are musicians, there are SID artists, there are remixers who grace this site with their artistic efforts….and then there is Reyn…the complete package, which will never be bettered. How lucky are we that this immense talent still finds time for the scene. I'm in awe, wonderful stuff. |

Falcon Tn - arranged by Eivind SommerstenReview by LaLa, 04/12/2023 How the heck is this the first remix of this popular tune!?! Funkiness is dialed up to the max in this one, really good! The brass section is especially alive here, I like the echo on it. I wish the synth lead sounds were thicker, though (or replaced with a sax), they kinda get lost in all the funkiness. But otherwise, it's very, very enjoyable. |

Nebulas - arranged by Eivind SommerstenReview by LaLa, 01/12/2023 I've been listening to this remix a lot lately. And I mean, a LOT. It's a wonderful melancholic piece. You captured the haunting beauty of the melody line perfectly, complemented by a selection of sounds that work together in great harmony, all mixed together flawlessly. Great work, I really, really do enjoy it! |

Green Beret (live at The Church Transmission 64) - arranged by Reyn OuwehandReview by NecroPolo, 30/11/2023 This live act is absolutely next level. If you call yourself a C64remix fan, do yourself a favour and watch the complete video. It is also a great tribute to Johannes Bjerregaard who passed last year.I must admit that I started remixing C64 tunes after listening to Reyn's Green Beret live rendition 16 years ago. After all those years, it was great to meet him in person @X2023 where it turned out that he is not only an incredible fellow performer but a really cool guy as well. Than you Reyn for being what you are. |

Hades Nebula (Quinque annis post) - arranged by LaLaReview by NecroPolo, 28/11/2023 Universe and dark matter in their cold cruelty are honest at least. Time to think, re-wire, assemble pieces, process the puzzle of past to prepare. Exactly what I need for the moment. Thanks for the experience. |

A Prehistoric Tale - arranged by Jogeir LiljedahlReview by SoDa7, 25/11/2023 What a wonderful version - it gives a modern, fully enjoyable vibe while at the same time keeping the same feel as the original version! |

Commando - arranged by Instant RemedyReview by LaLa, 22/11/2023 Review in 2023. As many have pointed it out over the decades, this remix makes heavy use of the original SID as-is, Still, I think that's what makes it so powerful: the strong sense of nostalgia that those sounds and musical phrases evoke. The first time I ever heard this remix was at one of the early BIT Live events in a club setting - and in that environment, it was an absolute blast to listen to. I could also knock it for what this remix isn't, but instead, I choose to enjoy it for what it is: a highly danceable version of a classic and legendary Rob Hubbard SID tune (which, let's not forget, is a remix itself). |

Outcheesed (Le Petit Chevre) - arranged by WobblerReview by LaLa, 20/11/2023 I'll be honest: I don't why, but I really dig this remix! Just the right amount of nostalgic 8-bit arpeggios mixed with modern production and an excellent arrangement, not to mention the clean mix. One of my insta-favorites from the BIT Live 2023 Remix Compo. I just keep playing it over and over and over… |

Rambo First Blood Arp 2 - arranged by Tim ForsythReview by Elro, 19/11/2023 Fantastic remix. Some nice fat synth sounds and plenty of variation from the original to keep us interested. Super! |

Cybernoid II-Do Androids Dream Of Electric Zombies - arranged by 0supereg0Review by LaLa, 16/11/2023 Creative subtitle, I like it! The remix is nice enough, but the arrangement is lacking the drive and oomph of the original. I get it, it was deliberately made more 'dreamy', but it just sort of drudges along and doesn't really go anywhere. The instrumentation is nice, the mix is fine, I just wish it had more overall artistic direction. |

Coco Intro (Hot Coco Edit) - arranged by Ctrl-ZReview by LaLa, 12/11/2023 I like the cassette tape intro, nice touch! Where this remix starts to get interesting to me is at 2:00 into it - I quite like that section! And the rest of it is highly dance able, too, it's a nice remix. |

Hades Nebula (Quinque annis post) - arranged by LaLaReview by Jinx138, 11/11/2023 Veeery nice, satisfying pads, very well mixed, I love it 💕 one or two disharmonies could be cut though |
|
Daley's Loader - arranged by Steve FosterReview by LaLa, 09/11/2023 I'll be brutally honest: since this is a cover of a cover (the SID is straight cover of YMO's 'Rydeen'), I can't get too excited about this to begin with. The instrumentation is fun, but I just keep hearing YMO's original in my head… |
|
Kung Fu Master (Rock Trio) - arranged by Doron DeutschReview by LaLa, 08/11/2023 If this is a live recording, the mix could've used some cleaning up, it sounds muddy, mono, not very clean. I am not terribly excited by the arrangement, either, but I think with a better mix it could come alive. |

Rambo First Blood Arp 2 - arranged by Tim ForsythReview by wobbler, 07/11/2023 This was my #1-vote on the norway compo. Love the mellow lead (among other things) |
|
Endtheme (Encore500) - arranged by Jogeir LiljedahlReview by Jackal, 07/11/2023 Such a wonderful Vangelis feel to this piece. I couldn't help but shed a tear at it's absolute beauty. I had to go seek out the original, and I'm blown away by the vision he had to take it to this level. If you close your eyes, it's like being in 1986 all over again. |

A Prehistoric Tale - arranged by Jogeir LiljedahlReview by Poke16384, 07/11/2023 Unmistakably Jogeir.. but a really faithful remix of Johen Hippel's original.. The soundscape is SOOO nice, spread out and airy.. There's just enough modification here for Jogeir to put his own signature on it.. (and clearly a lot of respect for the original work).. Lot's of lovely playing in the performance, especially the bent & slid notes of the melody.. My ears are in paradise… |

Rambo First Blood Arp 2 - arranged by Tim ForsythReview by LaLa, 06/11/2023 A very deserving winner of the BIT Live 2023 Remix Compo! It fulfilled two rules of the compo to the max: 1) arpeggio-heaven, 2) it is exactly 4 minutes long, which was the compo limit. 😁 An absolutely fantastic rendition of Galway's classic, loved it from the moment I first heard it. Congrats, Tim! PS: Drambo - haha, that's quite a coincidence! 🤣 PPS: My favorite part of this remix: the break at 3:12. Totally makes the rest even more impactful. PPPS: I get it, 4 min compo limit, but I feel the end is a bit rushed and this could've used a longer outro for the RKO release. |

End Sequence (Thanatos) - arranged by Eivind SommerstenReview by tim_forsyth, 06/11/2023 Let me just start by saying that I thought Glyn R Brown was behind this tremendous remix. You’ve outdone yourself Eivind, and then some. A short but emotional original by DRAX has been elevated to new heights. Expertly broken down into 3 parts, the initial introduction with a fantastic brass lead guides you towards an unexpected and spellbinding vocal section that leaves a lasting impression. When the percussion with its heft and weight joins in with that guitar solo, I was carried away. With the choir chants at the end, I wanted more but realised we had reached our 4 minute limit. The mix is exceptional, everything is perfectly balanced, with depth, lightness and is epic when it needs to be without sounding overbearing. I was blown away when I heard it for the first time and it keeps delivering on (many) repeated listens. For a guy that commits awesome acts of funk on us RKO listeners, it is clear you are capable of so much more. Just amazing. |

Mr Danko's Opus - arranged by Glyn R BrownReview by Shargo, 05/11/2023 An absolutely awesome remix. To manage the combination of a good SID and then treat it like a traditional orchestral arrangement is truly a great accomplishment. For a SID-remix it's on the longer side but constantly develops into new sounds. Only thing that nags me a little bit is the hint of a children's choir, but that's a personal thing. All in all my hat off to Danko for the composition and to Glyn for arrangement and performance, this might very well be the most beautiful remix I've heard. |

End Sequence (Thanatos) - arranged by Eivind SommerstenReview by LaLa, 05/11/2023 That trumpet - wow! But wait, that singer - wow! But wait, that crescendo with the guitar - wow! But wait, now a choir, too - wow! But, but, but… it ends so abruptly! 😞 I understand the BIT Live Remix Compo had a 4 min limit, but you aren't facing such a limit on RKO. So, for the love of god, please, give us an extended mix! We want more!!! 😊 An absolute gem of a tune. Could be the soundtrack of my life… |

Plastic Pop (Plastic Fantastic) - arranged by WobblerReview by Danko, 04/11/2023 This is embarassing.I heard this when it was published, probably forgot due to all the other things in life to cater to. …then I attended the online stream from Bergen BIT Live 2023, and end game this popped out… …now there is no denial. Okay then. Wobbler, please appreciate the fact that there are well over a hundred remixes of Plasticpop. This is one of the better ones, shy of Mordi. Thank you for your interpretation. |

Mr Danko's Opus - arranged by Glyn R BrownReview by Danko, 03/11/2023 What just happened?!Glyn R Brown, The Greatest C64 Remixer of All Time , taking music that I composed at ages 13 to 15 into consideration for a nine minute tribute? The word remix is totally out of context here. This is an interpretation worthy to stand on it's own, shoulder to shoulder with anything cinematic you can come to think of. The, to Glyn's previous repertoire, new element of spanish guitar strumming rhythmical chord progressions is a very clever and playful addition to break up almost nine minutes of Cinematic Orchestral supremacy. Every time I listen to anything by Glyn, I can hear him discovering a hidden chord progression or melody and bring it out of the original composition. This piece of music is no exception in that regard, I think I knew these simple, almost naively mundane, melodies from my childhood. Yet, Glyn found something else that I was not aware of existing in my own music. Technique - Are you kidding me? I know people making Cinematic music for a living, nowhere near as capable as Glyn. Artistic skill - Taking something of mine, and genuinely making it his own. That requires a true artist, not merely a remixer. Nostalgia factor - Holy shit. These original songs are 35-37 years old by now and an integral part of my childhood. I still remember the days when I composed them, where I was and how I felt. Not sure how to get any more nostalgic than that for me personally. It's going to take me some time to let this sink in, currently I am incapable of comprehending what just happened. Most likely I will freak out when I suspect it the least and the fact hits me like a ton of bricks. The fact that Glyn R Brown gifted me this tribute. I will never be worthy, Glyn. But I'll take it! |
