Echoing (2002 Remix) - arranged by XxDUSTYxXReview by cyphax, 30/03/2006 I have somewhat mixed feelings about this remix, but alltogether let's start off by saying that I really like it. What's not to like about this mix? I think the choice for the leads wasn't the best in most of the song, and the effect that's added to it here and there doesn't do it much good either. On the other hand there's this chorus or whatever that you first hear between 0:33 and 0:45 approx. that hits it just right and sounds very very good. Hence the mixed feeling thingie. The beat is simply fine, not particularly outstanding but it serves its purpose, like it should.To sum things up: energetic and at times volumous remix that could be better with different leads but sounds good to excellent depending on which part of the song you're listening to.😉 |

Rambo (feat. Hanna Kappelin and Larsec) - arranged by Visa RösterReview by LMan, 29/03/2006 Top notch vocals as usual by Visa Röster, and Larsec's style is distinctive in the arrangement. Technically, this piece is flawless.On the other hand, I would really really appreciate if there were some lyrics for the melodies, and I would not mind if it was in english, or in swedish or any other language I don't understand; the point is, lyrics would add a lot of personality and texture to the singing. Without doubt Visa Röster have the finest vocalists in the whole scene, it's a shame all we get to hear from them is "Ooooohs" and "Aaaahs", if you know what I mean. |

Fist II (band in the rain - new mixdown) - arranged by TraxerReview by LMan, 29/03/2006 Comparing the new mixdown to the old version, the rain effect has not effectively been turned down at all. In fact, it even sounds more present, with more treble in it.The rain really should be barely audible after the intro, it totally distracts from the outstanding far eastern arrangement. |

I've searched high and low to find more songs by said artists, and I stumbled onto this site. Oddly, Zak McKracken was rearranged by him, and it was one of my other favorites to begin with.I stumbled onto the homepage for him listed here and get message of "hello". Nothing more. I remember the site from years ago. I have about 25 songs from Plams303 and would love to hear more, or know if he/she plans to come up with more aural candy like this. If someone would care to e-mail me about it, I'd be greatly appreciated. Great song, download it, 'cause it's 100% worth it. So many others out there, but I can't find half of them anymore - people are missing out! |

The 80s synths style is predestined for this emotional SID tune. The background arpeggios softly pad the smooth lead sounds, and the sublte yet driving drums add drama to it all. Certainly a masterpiece and not to be missed. |

Robocop3 (Gonna get you mad mix) - arranged by MahoneyReview by quinch, 19/03/2006 I'm not sure what to make of this remix; on one hand, individually, the styles employed are good - very good, in fact. But together, they seem to be this… weird, amorphous mass that keeps tripping over itself as it stumbles toward the end. The execution is, as expected, excellent, but I cannot help but think that I would have liked the remix better if the singing, techno, guitar and other "parts" had been placed sequentially, rather than mixed together. |

Dadelos - arranged by moog (Sebastian Bachliñski)Review by LaLa, 18/03/2006 I really like the original SID by Reyn, it's so emotional, so powerful. So, I was looking forward to this remix.In short: I really like it! The ethno-ambient mood is set from the first note, although I would've prefered a more washed-out piano in the intro. The pulsing, always moving base is lovely. I am a bit disappointed by the muffled lead, in fact, the only reason this remix is not getting the highest rating from me is because of that lead. A Yamaha CS-80 would work perfectly here, hint-hint.😉 But in every regard this remix is as close to perfection as possible, it really carries forward the emotional power of the original. And it's also of perfect length: it doesn't drag on, nor is it too short to get us in the mood. Or, shall I say, in the "moog"… |

Orchestral Sequence - arranged by moog (Sebastian Bachliñski)Review by romeo_knight, 13/03/2006 Yes, I have to admit that this is fantastic. Although it does not cover my preferred sid as well as my preferred style of remixing. But moog just did everything right:First of all he absolutely catched the serene mood of the sid and increased it dramatically. Then the tune gets the dynamic kick it needs when the rhythm section comes in - so a great curve of intensity builds up and comes down in the end again. What I especially like about this is that it feels as epic and emotional as a film score without trying to copy the sound of a real orchestra (what most of the times fails when using samples anyway). Technically flawless. Perfect choice of sounds. Nuff said. |

Genloc - arranged by Markus SchneiderReview by eliot, 12/03/2006 The original SID was unknown to me… and I guess it will never reach the "most favorites".I think it (the tune or Markus) got lost on the technical aspects… I feel emotions but they do not come out… they are hidden… Why, i can't even guess… Maybe the weather is so depressing and contra-productive for artists. I wish he would've concentrated much more to transport emotions. Why is there this awefull background noise, especially noticeable on the beginning/end of this tune? |

I was hoping for something which was great that I would listen to time and time again.I found it to be rather repetative and not that well done. Some bad choice notes in this one along with some annoying samples. The main lead tune does attempt to cover some more of the original tune than the Sonic Wanderer "Spaceboost" remix version. I feel that this one was maybe rushed too much and although some sounds are quite atmospheric, the repetativeness and the lack of direction found me listening to this tune less often! |

Cebit ´90 Demo - Cream of the Earth - arranged by daXX offlineReview by d.a.wilson, 28/02/2006 This mix starts off superbly - really nice choice and balance of sounds with authentic gating effects - it brought a real grin to my face as I waited for the infamous lead guitar BUT so very sadly (in my opinion) it all fell apart from that point onwards.In my opinion the lead synth needs to be much bigger and more prominent in the mix with all the pitch bend and accents that the original had - afterall that, and the chopped up buffalo stance based loop, made the mod what it was. I have to admit it will always be difficult to top what has to be the most famous and most loved tracker tunes of all by the most famous Amiga demo group of all time. There is a lot to live up to here. Close but no cigar… |

Change an instrument here, add an fx noise there. Introduce additional elements as the tune evolves - and this could shine. Even if it lacks Technical / Artistic / and Nostalgic impression in its current form, it is still very enjoyable to listen to, thus the Orange Smiley. |

Last Ninja - Palace Gardens (Loader) - arranged by TonkaReview by cyphax, 19/02/2006 While I hadn't heard the original, after hearing this remix I wondered how it could be true to the original SID. I went ahead and fired up the SID and well, the remix IS true to the original. It's a fantastic SID altogether. But this remix… this remix is something else, something much more. Actually, to put it straight-in-your-face, this is by far my favorite from remix64. What it is exactly, I can't tell but somehow this song gives me lots of energy, and I can't sit still for a second listening to it. Perhaps it's the beat, the right use of SID samples for the leads; it all blends into something very beautiful.For me, it just hits the right spot, and it hasn't lost any of its magic since I first heard it (I'm talking months ago). Again, absolutely my favorite remix/remake! |

Lightforce 2006 (XOR's electronica remix) - arranged by XORReview by LMan, 14/02/2006 This would be a killer track, if it weren't for the really poor mastering. The lead sound needs more presence, and the panoramic centre is just empty. My advise: set all levels to zero and redo the mixing and mastering from scratch.On the plus side, I just love the backing, and the care for details. This would make a fantastic soundtrack for an 80s SciFi movie. |

Ballblazer (feat. Beastie Boys) - arranged by Romeo KnightReview by jgb, 10/02/2006 Technically this could do with another round of mixing and mastering. The synth chords and the bass are mixed too high. The kick is hidden somewhere in the background. The whole mix feels like it is lacking a bit in the bass compartment, but I'm a sucker for deep bass so this could be an artistic decision. Not enough space in the mix for the vocals.Well chosen sounds and fx. The structure of the song is really good, though a bit too reliant on the synth chords/bass combination. That could be developed a bit more. Really like the synth solo! The vocals fit the tune perfectly! The overall feeling of the remix is somewhere along Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and Rockwell's "Somebody's watching me". The 80:s feel is all over the song. Nostalgic? Not a bit, haven't heard either the original SID nor the BB track. |

Sidology 2 Trinity - arranged by machinae supremacyReview by zaphodchak, 10/02/2006 Oh my gosh! I love Machinae Supremacy, but I was always wondering why they never did 'Supremacy. ' Needless to say, my face lit up at the beginning of this track. Legend has it that Machinae Supremacy always had plans for Sidology 2, but after the realized how epic 1 and 3 were, they were afraid they could never live up to it. I'm thrilled to hear this one, and almost 13 minutes, too! I can only give less than perfect on nostalgia partly because I was never on the original C64 scene, and partly because Machinae Supremacy makes every track uniquely their own. And their new album is coming out soon! |

Of course he could follow the bass with his guitar to sound like many fusion bands but he prefer to let the SID screaming just to say "this chip is not dead, it still alive!!! " |
