Comic Bakery (feat Hanna Kappelin & Morpheus) - arranged by o2Review by sb, 18/06/2004 When I first heard this tune I couldn't stop listening to it, it went on repeat for hours. If you like old synthesizer giants like Kraftwerk, Yazoo and Jarre, you will love this tune. I immediately fell in love with Hanna Kappelins voice, gosh does she have a sexy voice or what? The song is ethno style and fits perfectly with the tune. All mixed with Kraftwerk inspired sounds. It's even better than Kraftwerk because it is not so extreme. The tune is complete with great sounds, great melody, great song, great voice. It's funny, spontaneous, constructive and wierd, you don't get tired off it no matter how much you listen to it. I only wish there were a version of this tune that were loooooonger!!! ( and availible on a better format than mp3, for hi-fidelity nerds like me ( so one can realy enjoy it )). |

Sweet (feat. Elsa & Karin) - arranged by Markus Schneider & MahoneyReview by xonder, 11/06/2004 A really great, sweeping orchestral remix of Johannes Bjerregaard's "Sweet". I especially liked the wonderful refrain with the superb singing by Karin Öjehagen. The sheer beauty of her crystal clear voice and the wonderfully orchestrated harmonies actually made me cry. Divinely beautiful! |

Delta (Spanish Guitar - Final mix) - arranged by Noviello PippoReview by ricq, 11/06/2004 I'm sure he meant well but I really don't like this version. There's too much improvising and it's ruining the original beautiful melody. When the trumpet takes over it gets really bad; it's too loud and there's to much reverb. The drum track sounds ok though. |

Outer Space (Spaceboost Remix) - arranged by Sonic WandererReview by Instant Remedy, 07/06/2004 This remix is real nice, much depending on the fact that it sounds like Laserdance/Koto but with the energy times 2!Sonic Wanderer has evolved from the traditional dance-sound to the spacedance genre with his latest remixes and with great results. He has the the right feel and sound, but with a lot more energy and a more contemporary sound. The percussion is great and not so soft/oldskool as the genre otherwise suggests (and it doesn't sound compressed to death either, good work ๐) Vocoder parts also real cool. Haven't heard the original yet, but I really like this remix. I Wish I get some spare time some day to experiment with the spacedance genre tooโฆ |

Comic Bakery (feat Hanna Kappelin & Morpheus) - arranged by o2Review by Instant Remedy, 07/06/2004 This struck me like lighting, I just had to sign up to be able to review and tell everybody how wonderful this tune is! (This is my first review). The vocals fits SO well to the arrangement which is solid and very well done. Everything feels so complete in to every detail. Good thing making the remix a non-dance version too, which O2 don't usually do anyway. It's not so Jarre-ish as I expected at first, maybe because of the vocals. There are of course some classic Jarre/O2 sounds, but I feel the tune takes Jarre closer to O2 rather than taking O2 closer to Jarre which makes for a perfect blend. I don't know if there is any reason for me to say anything about every little detail that is good, noone would bother to read this review to the endโฆ Now there is no doubt that Comic Bakey is my all time fave of SIDs. I've listened to this remix at least 15 times and if I'm not listening to it, I'm humming it silently til my throat hurts. |

Outer Space (Spaceboost Remix) - arranged by Sonic WandererReview by odie, 06/06/2004 Oh yeah! Just returned from holidays to find this remix of my old C64 theme! There are a few bars I wished were also incorporated into this mix, just to give it a little more, but overall, I mentioned to the other Cosine members that I thought it was "Bloody Marvellous"!!!I especially love the lovely female voice, it makes it even more better for me! OK, so someone gonna try and do a conversion of my Turbo-Charge Fastlane theme? Or, do I have to do it myself? |

Druid II Remix - arranged by Red DevilReview by sledge, 05/06/2004 This is my favourite version of Druid II. It starts off with the original SID version that everyone remembers from all the Fairlight intros. The tune is a good mix between flute, pop and SID. It's a hit! |

Grand Prix Circuit - arranged by Dr FutureReview by putzi, 29/05/2004 I love the original SID very much, and this remix is a clean transfer into techno/dance. Some car-sounds make it clear Dr Future also played the game, even if it not an F1-car sound ๐ Clean is a very good word to describe this remix, very detailed audible synths fx and even an orchestral patch for the right part of the chorus. Artistic impression is not so high since it is quite the SID. Technically very good, except for the bass not loud enough to be perfect. Doc´s best remix so far, technically. ๐ |

Giana Sisters (Keep Da Scene Alive) - arranged by DHSReview by eliot, 29/05/2004 It seems that SIDs also fits into Techno-style ๐Technically I would wish for more more length and stereo panorama ๐ Besides this minimal flaws you get a very impressive tune, keeping the spirit of the original SID - neverless I have expected from DHS. Makke's Scooter-style "speech" makes this remix unique compared to any other Giana Sisters remixes. I wouldn't wonder if this remix could make it into the charts ๐ Keep Da Scene Alive! ๐ |

Auf wiedersehen Monty (Oberheim edit) - arranged by Peter MorckReview by brd_trsi, 28/05/2004 Mr. Mörck knows his stuff. Carefully chosen, classic analog synth/electro sounds make this track a winner. Even though this track is over 7 minutes long, it doesn't get boring because there's always something new happening. |
|
Thalamusik (from Sanxion) - arranged by FerraraReview by brd_trsi, 28/05/2004 A good version of Hubbard's best tune. Lacks a little something on the drum department (sounds like there's only one loop playing), decent choices on the synth sounds, especially the "vibrato lead" that start at 2:00 sounds VERY good (= SID-esque)! Definately worth a download. |
|
Thrust - arranged by JBReview by brd_trsi, 28/05/2004 Holy s---! This is seriously impressive, _the best_ C64 remix so far! Jeroen is obviously a very talented professional. Several solos (piano, sax, guitar) and excellent production makes you turn your head, just to see if there's a live band behind you playing that tune.Rating: 10+ and then some! |
|
Sanxion - arranged by XORReview by brd_trsi, 28/05/2004 I really liked this, among the best Sanxion loader remixes I've heard so far. Nice double kicking bassdrum, good choices on the lead sounds and "massive" atmosphere. |

Grand Prix Circuit - arranged by Dr FutureReview by ifadeo, 24/05/2004 what a nice smooth 90's minimal-techno remix, it contains a real nice intro, a very nice bridge starting at 2:11 which ends in great breakโฆ he used a clever selection of typical techno instruments, and as a contrast some nice 'car in motion' samples. allover it's a bit easy listing techno to my ears, but i don't want to belittle volker's very good workโฆ the remix sounds commercial, very chart compatibleโฆ ๐cheers ifadeo |

Outer Space (Spaceboost Remix) - arranged by Sonic WandererReview by ahris, 24/05/2004 I love this remix, mostly because it really makes my Laserdance nerve twitch and it sounds VERY much like Laserdance. ๐I was a huge fan of this kind of Dutch synthesizer dance music (Laserdance, Proxyon, Kotoโฆ) in the mid to late 80s. During that period i listened almost exclusively to SID tunes and this kind of music so they are closely linked in my mind, wich means that this remix brings about massive amounts of nostalgia for someone like me. The original SID tune is quite average in my opinion, but this remix definately brings it to a new level so i have to say that Sonic Wanderer did a really good job with it. ๐ |

Gordian Tomb Adventures - arranged by Glyn R BrownReview by cyphax, 23/05/2004 More than a job well done. I didn't know the original sid track either but you don't have to, to like this. Being a matter of taste, I have no problems whatsoever with the vocals, they fit in great. This is at least a must-try, you'll find out soon enough if it fits in your musical taste. If it does, you're not gonna be sorry for hearing this one. |

Armageddon Man (Vocal Jazz feat. Karin รjehagen) - arranged by MahoneyReview by franky, 19/05/2004 I can discribe what kind of feelings the song wakes in me. Everything in this song was perfectly arranged and make it to the BEST COVER EVER (in my opinion). Mahoney did make a pice of history with this song and the Vocal are incredible. Respect to Karin Öjehagen, MASSIVE RESPECT to Mahoney!!!! |

Creatures 2 Demon Level Tune - arranged by Alfredo TerpentinReview by franky, 19/05/2004 Great tune that realy fits the feeling of the gamelevel (run, run baby!). I am a little bit disapointed that the tune is so short. |
|
Comic Bakery (feat Hanna Kappelin & Morpheus) - arranged by o2Review by franky, 19/05/2004 Great cover from o² again! The vocals are very nice and fits perfect in (sounds like the were in the orginal, too)! Good work, go on so. |

Comic Bakery (feat Hanna Kappelin & Morpheus) - arranged by o2Review by Kenz, 17/05/2004 Oh my GOD!! This utterly, utterly, UTTERLY beautiful cover of Comic Bakery practically game me a JOYGASM the first time I heard it!!! I'm a huge fan of 80's electro / synth tracks (and the works of Mr Jarre of course) so hearing this piece was like having everything I like in a piece of music injected directly into my brain!!The vocals are a VERY nice touch and the section of the tune where everything seems to go wrong and conk out is brilliantly done and definitely appeals to my somewhat warped sense of humour. The tune soon picks itself up after that and delivers and thoroughly lovely cover of Comic Bakery with fantastic powerful synth lead sounds, classy vocals, superb Kraftwerk-esque percussion, sexy sequencers and lots of other assorted ear-candy. Oh and it's a Galway track too - things just don't get much better than this! To sum up, this is possibly one of the finest covers of Comic Bakery I've ever heard and this is definitely one of my favourite Commodore 64 remixes released in 2004 so far. Well done to everyone involved with this remix, it's gonna be a tough one to top I reckon!

Terra cresta (straight mix) - arranged by InfamousReview by digideus, 17/05/2004 When I first found this site, I immediately looked for several songs which were amongst my favorites in the 80s. I was overjoyed to find someone had done a mix of Terra Cresta which is, in my opinion, one of Martin Galway's top achievements. This version takes that original idea and adds a slick and professional slant to the piece. Im still not sure about the sample used at the beginning of the song as it sounds out of place, being somewhat grating to these ears. However, that said, as soon as it kicks into the main rhythm, it flows with a tense and flowing nature. The attention to the solo section of the song is done extremely well with complete control of tempo and pace. the addition of the techno drum beat adds another dimension to the song and makes me feel it was meant to be as it fits perfectly. Its the first song I heard on here that made me want to write a review. In a word, this is a stunning piece that the author can be proud of. |

Commando-Capella - arranged by Igo SplashmanReview by egregius, 14/05/2004 AHAHA lol! This is just a funny song. It isn't a great tune I like to put on when behind the computer, more one to show my friends and laugh together at it's wackyness.I can't say this is the first time I heard game-music done A-Capella style, and I'm pretty certain the author is inspired by Virt (Virt is a known OCRemixer and semi-known gamemusic composer)'s versions of several gametunes. Igo Splashman lacks the perfect execution of Virt, but this tune is a whole lot more complex, and he pulls it off mostly, for which I give respect. |

Zoids (The movie) - arranged by plasm303Review by egregius, 13/05/2004 Even if I am a big fan of the original SID, there are enough Zoids remixes out there to warrant being picky. A Zoids remix needs to have something special, and I can truly say this one has taken a special place in my heart.Where the original is more of a stomping industrially epicy thing, the conversion to piano and female chanting took me a few minutes to adjust to. It takes a number of elements from Zoids, and puts them in a wholly different context in which they get new meaning. I'm surprised it worked as well as it did; this version carries a lot of emotion for me. I think the sounds of rain is a nice touch of atmosphere, but the 'female vocals' (I suspect they're sampled synths) in combination with just the right notes on the piano swoon me the most. |

R-Type (Dancing with the Alien-mix) - arranged by PutziReview by bombshelboy, 13/05/2004 On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate this as super excellent. It is has a little too sharp a main instrument, but other than that, really awesome synth line. Plus I respect anyone who enjoys r-type. |

Great Giana Sisters - arranged by machinae supremacyReview by daxx0r, 26/04/2004 I have honestly never heard anything that good! It really sounds "rockish" and original, at the same time as it doesn't forget the old classic melody!!! Two thumbs up! |
|
Commando Highscore (Intermenco mix) - arranged by HaludzaReview by ansi, 25/04/2004 This tune, as it is, gives a very sensitive, powerful mood to the listener. Everything, like synths and strings, fits 100% into the entirety. I think if Hubbard could have a technology of these days the original would've sounded just like this one! |
|
Paradise (Mellow Fairlight Ganga-Bung Rmx) - arranged by DHSReview by Kenz, 24/04/2004 I just couldn't resist writing a few words about this superbly BIZARRE remix. It's almost as if DHS has tapped into my bonkers mind and is playing back what goes through my head. I truly ADORE the mangled lyrics in this tune and the dance treatment of the Fairlight tune works really well. This is completely loopy stuff and I LOVE IT! Excellent work DHS.Nuff said. ๐ |

Mega Apocalypse - arranged by N-JOYReview by Kenz, 24/04/2004 Ahhh, this takes me back. I can remember the first time I heard this remix and it blew BOTH my socks off! If memory serves this was done around the era of Cher and her deliberately-wonky auto-tuned lyrics (which I actually rather liked) so to hear that effect in a C64 remix was definitely inspired. Hats off to Njoy for that one! This remix, to me, was a defining moment in the C64 remix scene. It was one of the first commercial-sounding remixes to have vocals applied to it and it worked brilliantly - enhancing an already funky remix of the tune. It definitely pushed the envelope as far as C64 remixes were concerned and paved the way for an influx of high quality sounding tracks with vocals that were to follow. *Genius* |

Giana Sisters (Keep Da Scene Alive) - arranged by DHSReview by ms, 23/04/2004 Well, many people complain about less reviews. And this is my attempt to review things I have not so much knowledge about as it comes out as a scooter-like techno piece. So it may be a little bit vague reviewing this from my side ๐Anyway here we go: When I got the first beta from DHS I was very curios about the final version and it worked out much better I ever thought. This is from my view due to several reasons. One of it is as always something different, something creative with parts you didn't expect in a techno track. But if you carefully listen to his music you can always expect something special from him. The smooth orchestral/choir part beginning at 01:00 and ending at 02:00 is my favourite one. Very often remixers/musicians are put into one ore more categories of musical styles. While leaving this path it always interesting to get results which make hungry for more - which means I would love to hear orchestral work from him. As I know how the choir was done since I am using the same base material it is easy to say he combined male and female very well. The quality of the orchestral AKAIs could have been better since I am very spoiled, anyway this doesn't influence the quality of the notes played with it ๐ At least very nice to have an orchestral DHS and just can say I would love to hear more different styles from him. Well, back to the techno parts scooty Makke has done excellent work. I have heard some of his work also on other (non-remixes) pieces and really like his work as much as in this track. Mixing and mastering isn't my best topic but shortly to say the track is well mixed for my ears on my gear. The mastering fits well since the orchestral part has a good dynamic range while the rest is on high level you would expect for this track. At 02:54 I hear an overload on my gear which seems to come out as my 'typical DHS crackle' *lol* Well, I have heard some 'overloads' on MD SIDologie too which no one could hear. Seems that this is just bloody me since I go for lower level mastering. Finally top professional stuff, which didn't let me stop tapping with my feets, yup me techno aversional. The rules for reviewing say: "If you didn't like the original, better not review the remix". Ooppss. Sorry ๐ |
